What is The TEC Innovates Program?

The TEC Innovates program is designed to help companies in Central New York (CNY) develop new and improved products for “Thermal and Environmental Controls (TEC).” TEC products include systems that monitor and control energy and environmental quality in built environments—homes, schools, offices, factories, and neighborhoods—and in related applications, such as food production, transport and preservation.

Supported with funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce to spur regional entrepreneurial activity relating to innovations in energy and environmental systems, this project was one of 27 selected nationwide to receive funding under the federal Economic Development Administration’s 2017 Regional Innovation Strategies (RIS) program. The TEC Innovates program is a three-year project led by SyracuseCoE in partnership with CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity (CenterState CEO).

Who is eligible to participate in this program?

Innovators and startups, as well as existing companies, from the following counties are eligible: Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Seneca, St. Lawrence and Tompkins.

Testimonials from AM-TEC Program participants

The quality of work was over the top, it was 100%. I can’t say enough about the collaborative relationship with everyone I’ve met.

The people have been absolutely fantastic to work with – helpful, accommodating, and genuinely interested in seeing us succeed.

Excellent source of diverse resources, very responsive; if they didn’t have what I needed they told me where to find it.

They have been absolutely critical to our success as a start-up. To have this type of development hub for assistance is invaluable for starting a new business in this region.
